Font resource tip

One website that I use on a daily basis, at work and home, is a website called whatthefont.com. It is one of the best font recognition websites that I have ever found.
To use, all you need to do is create a jpeg of the mystery font, black and white tend to work the best, upload and make sure you fill in the blank fields with the correct letters. Once you hit submit, it display the matchs.
It is a super helpful website and I hope you find it useful as well.

Mario Art!

My boyfriend and I went to an art festival this summer in Minneapolis and I did a double take when I walked past Nick Ringelstetter's booth. By far one of the coolest pieces of artwork that I have ever seen. It was of major gaming influence with Mario, Luigi, Koopa, Fly Fish and mushrooms with a underground view that looks a lot like dig dug. Pictured above is a photo of the artist, Nick Ringelstetter, and his masterpiece!

It was so cool that I actually bought a smaller print version of the big painting. Not as good as the bigger version, but it is still super cool!

My Retro Video Game Art

When I have a little down time, I really enjoy painting 8-bit art. Not just on any kind of material... on old vinyl records! It all started about 3 or 4 years ago when I was trying to figure out how I wanted to decorate my apartment. I wanted something cheap, but something that I have an interest in. I was walking around in the Goodwill, and came upon some vinyls and an idea was born!

My very first retro gaming painting was Mario, it didn't come out perfect, but it was a start. The others that followed were a bit more structured and came out way better than the first and I was totally happy with the outcome. Now I have them, plus others, hanging up on my living room wall.

Enjoy the geeky goodness!

Sue from Ms. Pac-Man... on a Turntable!

I love seeing retro gaming influences around the 'real world'. It's a flashback! A flashback to playing on the big 'ol aracde standups in the arcade and tube tv in the living room. What simple times they were!

I was in Chicago at a record store and this awesome gem was on a turntable when I was listening to my record. Totally geeked out and had to take a picture. Nothing like old school on retro action!

    Welcome fellow creative minds!

Hello all and welcome to my blog!

I am starting this blog because I am on a never ending journey to expand my knowledge of design, technology, and anything else that interests me.... and I wanted to share! Some of the stuff that I will write about will revolve around the adobe products and different techniques, shortcuts and tricks I use every day to push pixels around and anything new I figure out! Some other things might include what kind of personal project I am up to, video games, painting, music, and anything else I find interesting!
